Why taking action creates success

Updated: May 12, 2022

How does nature influence development?

The positive effects of nature exposure include improved cognitive functioning (including increased concentration, greater attention capacities, and higher academic performance), better motor coordination, reduced stress levels, increased social interaction with adults and other children, and improved social skills.

Development of a Child

“The biopsychosocial model states that biological, psychological, and social factors all play a significant role in human development.

Nature can definitely open us a great ground for thoughts and reflections and still inspire, not mentioning how important it is to inhale peace and harmony that comes along or rather when surrounded by it and all within ..Individual's genes and their environment work together, communicating back and forward to create traits

  • The diathesis– stress model serves to explore how biological or genetic traits (diatheses) interact with environmental influences (stressors) to produce disorders, such as depression, anxiety,”

A New Direction for Environmental Inequality Research

Research show

Recent findings indicate that limited exposure to nature and green space may have serious physical and psychological health ramifications (Faber Taylor & Kuo, 2006; R. Kaplan & Kaplan, 1989; S. Kaplan, 1995; Kellert, 2005). Moreover, research suggests that children disproportionately suffer the long-term developmental consequences of limited experiences in nature (Kellert, 2005), making it imperative that environmental inequality researchers place children and their differential contact with and experiences in nature at the forefront of their research.

Stunned or scared ?

“Be surprised or not - it is true stories ...”

Although there is still much uncertainty as to the direct and indirect causes of these alarming health trends, current findings from the environmental psychology and environmental health fields are beginning to link children’s exposure to environmental pollutants and diminishing access to nature to children’s declining mental and physical health (Faber Taylor, Kuo, & Sullivan, 2001; Goldman & Koduru, 2000; Petty, Peacock, Sellens, & Griffin, 2005; Senier, Mayer, Brown, & Morello-Frosh, 2007; Wells, 2000)

Get Inspired

the negative impact of pollution exposure and limited access to nature on children’s educational achievement, cognitive functioning, and mental health has serious implications for the future economic success of the United States in a highly competitive global market (Center for Health, Environment, and Justice, 2001).
